Kinja'd!!!

I’m flying to S an Francisco in February. Friday the 1st, to whenever I feel like leaving. For... r easons. Haven’t been to California since I was a kid , what should I see? Where should I eat? Any amazing national parks that aren’t too far, preferably north of San Francisco?

Oh and I’ll be driving back, if any Oregon friends want to grab a bite

I get the impression you’re gonna drive back in a Soul Red ND2 RF...

I mean, this one’s pretty far but it’s pretty mint too:

That’s a gnarly link. But here’s the Miata:

Under 50k miles too.

A *lot* of good eating places in the San Francisco . Also a very well-documented city on the internet so I suggest just searching according to your taste. A heavy wallet of course helps.

I suggest driving Mines road down to the observatory while you’re here, and up to Mendocino. Lots of forests to hike there and basically everywhere. Muir Beach up to Mt. Tamalpais is a classic.

Me and a couple other oppos live around so let me know if you need anything! I can give more recommendations but I do feel like the internet is better than me at that :P

Seeing as I'd have to remove the spoiler, burn the wheels/source new ones, remove the bra, repaint the bumper to match, repaint the windshield surround to match..... That's way too much money for such a questionable modded Miata, low-mileage Sunburst or not.

Caffe Greco has good espresso and the best tiramisu and it’s ri ght next to chinatow n. Point lobos park  was a hell of a view, you’ve got millions of people at your back and you’re looking out at thousands of miles of ocean, albeit dotted with cargo ships and sailboats.

Parking in SF is a bitch.

Roughly when are you gonna be passing through Oregon? Specifically, Portland.

I was there for a week for work this fall. Fun town, but expensive as hell.

Muir woods was beautiful, but probably everyone will recommend that one.

As far as food goes I didn't have a bad meal while there but loved the ramen places there!

Parking does worry me a bit. I'm thinking I'll find a hotel, leave the car and test out public transportation. Or maybe one of those bike/scooter ride shares... That actually sounds fun

Not really sure. My best guess so far is either the 4th or 5th

Mt. Tam shouldn’t be (State Park, not national). And hiking trails in that park wind in and out of Muir Woods- I wouldn’t think there would be fences blocking hiking access to Muir Woods.

Angel Island is also a state park.

All the f ood there is ridiculously good, but ramen is a particularly good choice.

Cool, I’ll try to keep both those days free. Early in the week is generally pretty open for me. I do h ave a standing Wednesday thing, but I could probably shift that with a week’s  notice.

Not north, but Monter ey and Carmel are awesome, with Seventeen Mile Drive between. The Monter ey Bay Aquarium is world class.

Big Basin Redwood forest is to the South a bit but I think it is worth checking out. Could always hop on down to Laguna Seca if you go that way too, lots of great driving roads around that whole area. In SF, driving is actually kind of entertaining I think. I didnt have any trouble parking (midweek, midday) during my time there and while traffic was awful, driving around the hills and shit was kind of fun. I was driving a ‘10 Mini Cooper S with a manual and bald tires. Those hills led to many burnouts. But yeah I also loved the food just about everywhere. Too much time to visit any of the parks like Yosemite but the local ones are still pretty sweet for a drive. While expensive, I still loved driving across the golden gate bridge. And if you are around on a weekend, lookup the treasure island cars and coffee, it was HUGE.
